“Those who feel this call can come, come. Come within the rules, you will be very well received and integrated,” stated Luís Montenegro, speaking alongside Mozambican President Daniel Chapo at the conclusion of the sixth Portugal-Mozambique summit, held today at the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto, with around two dozen government officials from both countries in attendance.
In response to a question, the Prime Minister refuted claims that immigration laws in Portugal are becoming stricter, preferring to describe the situation as regulatory and conveyed a message.
“We have no problem with the Mozambican community in Portugal, none. We have in that community a very strong bond and a comprehensive plan for welcoming and integration,” he stated.
