Pepco, one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing retailers, with 3,000 stores in 17 countries, has already arrived in Portugal. The brand has officially opened its first Portuguese store in Coimbra.
With a view to expansion, the brand also plans to reach Albufeira, Olhão, Elvas and Tavira during the summer, and by the end of the year, Porto, Aveiro, Braga and Lisbon.
“We are delighted that Portugal has joined the Pepco family, and we look forward to continuing our growth and opening stores where customers need us – close to home – so that everyone can dress the family, decorate and organize the home, at low prices,” says Anca Radu, Retail Director for Southern Europe at Pepco.
The first Pepco store in Portugal was inaugurated in the Coimbra (Eiras) business park, in the Pepco Plus format – a larger store, where customers will find the classic Pepco offer for both home and apparel, as well as additional space for fast-moving consumer goods and major brands.
The chain already has over one million square meters of retail space in Europe. It currently employs over 28,000 people in 17 European countries, and in its first year on the Portuguese market, it plans to employ over 300 people.
Pepco implements dozens of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs in all the countries where it operates. The chain focuses primarily on helping children, and therefore collaborates with non-governmental organizations that help children from needy, financially disadvantaged or socially excluded families. In Portugal, the brand will cooperate with Aldeia de Crianças SOS.
