The Faro District Command of the PSP announced that a 41-year-old man was intercepted during a transaction with a consumer, resulting in the seizure of nearly 7,000 doses of drugs.
During the operation, a PSP officer was injured and required hospital treatment, according to the statement.
The PSP seized 905 individual doses of cocaine, 6,026 doses of heroin, 661 grams of an undetermined substance, communication devices, and over 2,000 euros in cash.
The arrest was made as part of a policing action aimed at combating drug trafficking and consumption in public areas.
The suspect, charged with drug trafficking, was brought before a judicial interrogation and has been placed in preventive detention, the most severe coercive measure.
The PSP states that it will continue preventive and criminal investigation actions, enhancing surveillance in high-risk areas.
