The Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged a man residing in Ponte de Lima with two counts of aggravated child pornography offenses through social media, involving the sharing and possession of pornographic material, it was announced today.
In a statement on its website, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Porto requested the man’s conviction to include supplementary penalties, such as the prohibition from engaging in professions, employment, functions, or activities involving minors, as well as the prohibition of placing minors under his care and the suspension of parental responsibilities.
According to the charges filed by the Public Prosecutor, on June 12, the man engaged in sexual conversations with an 8-year-old girl, during which he repeatedly requested photographs and videos displaying sexual organs and sexualized poses, which he successfully received.
In these conversations, the accused also suggested a meeting with the minor, which ultimately did not occur.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that the man possessed two mobile phones containing similar conversations with another minor, aged 11, as well as image and video files showing sexual organs and sexualized poses, obtained through WhatsApp. Additionally, he had 36 other image and video files of a similar nature involving minors under the age of 18, including eight involving children under 14 years of age.
