A pony was rescued Sunday morning after falling into a drainage ditch and becoming stuck in the mud in Porto Carros, Cantanhede.
The Cantanhede Volunteer Firefighters reported the alert at 10:45 a.m. via Facebook.
“Upon arrival, our operatives found a particularly challenging scenario. The configuration of the ditch and the mud with strong suction made the rescue efforts significantly difficult,” they detailed.
The responders also noted, “It took almost three hours of continuous effort, where the cooperation of the local population was crucial—a true example of community spirit.”
“Thanks to everyone’s dedication, the outcome was the best possible: the pony was rescued safe and sound, and is now out of danger,” they concluded.
