This week marked notable interactions between Portugal and the Pope, a connection not solely attributed to António Costa, President of the European Council, who met with Pope Leon XIV this Friday.
On Wednesday, during his weekly audience at the Vatican, the head of the Catholic Church was gifted several boxes of cherries from Fundão, as reported.—
The fruit was presented by an unidentified resident from the Portuguese region who attended the audience with the Pope.
The cherries, provided by the company João Veríssimo Mendes, represent producers from the Fundão municipality.
“It is a pride to see the product from Alcongosta and the municipality of Fundão reach Pope Leon XIV,” expressed the owner.
