The warnings have been issued based on information received from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), according to the regional authority.
The severe weather warning, at level 6, corresponds to winds ranging from 51 to 62 kilometers per hour from any direction, without a specified duration. The strong wind warning has been issued until 18:00 on Friday.
Visibility is expected to be good, occasionally moderate, with waves potentially reaching up to three meters along the northern coast, but not exceeding two meters in the southern part of the island.
The harbor master’s office at Porto do Funchal advises reinforcing the mooring and closely monitoring moored and anchored vessels, avoiding walks along the sea or in exposed areas, and refraining from recreational fishing activities, particularly near cliffs, steep banks, or areas frequently hit by waves.
The IPMA has placed the Madeira archipelago under a yellow alert due to strong winds expected until Saturday.
