A new association has been established in the parish of Moscavide and Portela, in the municipality of Loures, Lisbon district, driven by a group of citizens eager to enhance the cultural, civic, and community life of Portela. The initiative is grounded in principles of plurality, inclusion, active participation, and the appreciation of local memory.
The initiators aim to create the Portela Library, invigorate book clubs, launch the Portela Film Club, promote discussions on local, national, and international issues, organize cultural workshops, poetry readings, conferences, and concerts. Additionally, they intend to gather intangible heritage and develop partnerships with local, national, and international entities.
The association is described as “an independent entity, open to collaboration with all active forces in the parish, operating with a democratic and transparent model.”
Among the founders are RTP director and producer Rui Nunes, architect Tiago Farinha Rodrigues, Instituto Superior Técnico professor João Seixas, and doctor Carla Gouveia.
