
In Portugal, 5.1% of the population at risk of poverty in 2024 did not have regular access to a complete meal, a percentage below the European Union average, Eurostat announced today.
The European Union Statistics Office (Eurostat) reported that in 2024, 5.1% of Portuguese people at risk of poverty lacked access to a meal containing meat, fish, or a vegetarian equivalent every two days.
At the EU level, last year, 8.5% of the total population across the 27 countries in the political-economic bloc did not have access to a full meal every two days.
Slovakia is the country with the highest percentage of people at risk of poverty without access to a full meal (39.8%), followed by Bulgaria (37.7%) and Hungary (37.3%).
Cyprus is the country with the lowest percentage of people at risk of poverty without access to a full meal (3.5%).
