“Portugal condemns the most intense Russian attack on Ukraine since the start of the war of aggression (810 ‘drones’ and 13 missiles), which directly hit the Government’s headquarters,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a message on social media.
The post further expressed “deep solidarity with the victims (including children), their families, and with the Ukrainian people and authorities.”
The attack carried out today by Russia on Ukraine’s capital, involving 805 ‘drones’ and around 12 missiles, was the largest of its kind since the war began, killing at least five people, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The assault “was the largest Russian ‘drone’ attack since the outset” of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, said Ukraine Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat in statements to the American news agency Associated Press.

According to the Air Force, Ukraine managed to shoot down and neutralize 747 drones and four missiles, but there were nine missile impacts and 56 drone attacks in 37 locations across the country, with weapon debris falling in eight areas.
The operation struck, for the first time, a government building, destroying part of the Government’s headquarters in Kyiv.
The building houses the offices of Ukrainian ministers, leading to police blocking access to the surroundings as fire trucks and ambulances arrived.
“For the first time, a government building was damaged by an enemy attack, including the roof and upper floors,” said Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, arguing that “it is necessary to increase sanctions pressure – especially against Russian oil and gas.”
