Portugal has the 3rd largest increase in house prices in the EU.

Compared to the third quarter of 2024, housing prices rose by 0.6% in the euro area and 0.8% in the EU between October and December, with Portugal recording the third-highest increase at 3.0%, according to European statistical data.

Among the EU member states for which data is available, two experienced a year-on-year decrease in housing prices in the fourth quarter of 2024, while 24 saw an annual increase.

The year-on-year declines were noted in France and Finland (both -1.9%), while the most significant increases were seen in Bulgaria (18.3%), Hungary (13.0%), and Portugal (11.6%).

Compared to the previous quarter, housing prices decreased in six member states, remained stable in two (Malta and Finland), and increased in eighteen.

The largest quarterly declines in house prices were observed in France, Cyprus (both -1.0%), and Estonia (-0.7%), while the most notable increases were recorded in Slovakia (3.6%), Slovenia (3.1%), and Portugal (3.0%).
