The men’s senior national team secured qualification for the qualifying round of EuroBasket 2025 by finishing in first place in the pre-qualifying group. In the decisive game the team lost against Bulgaria by , but guarantees the first place as a result of the victory in the first round in Coimbra.
In a match unfit for the heart, the Portuguese team showed cold blood and resilience to recover from a deficit that reached 17 points, in a pavilion with over 4500 Bulgarian fans.
