The Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) announced that “considering the catch data obtained by the Portuguese fleet in fishing areas eight c, nine, ten, and EU waters of CECAF zone 34.1.1., it is reported that quota utilization has reached 95%.” This information pertains to the fishing of anglerfish (‘lophiidae’).
Zone eight c corresponds to the Southern Bay of Biscay, zone nine to Portuguese waters, and zone ten to the Azores Bank.
Consequently, the fishing of anglerfish is prohibited from 00:00 on October 21.
Additionally, landings are restricted to by-catch, constituting up to 5% of the total unloaded per vessel in each fishing trip.
The DGRM is a central service of the state’s direct administration, with administrative autonomy, dedicated to the development of safety and maritime services, the implementation of fishing policies, and the conservation of resources.
