“The country can worry about many things, but it does not need to worry about the PRR. […] Portugal will not lose a single euro of the funds at our disposal,” assured Manuel Castro Almeida, who is currently being heard in parliament during a regular hearing, just days after attending the Committee on Economy and Territorial Cohesion to provide clarifications on the PRR.
Last week, the official had already stated that the PRR is under control, with deadlines being met and, in some cases, even ahead of schedule.
Manuel Castro Almeida explained today that the ongoing review of the PRR does not aim to eliminate goals but to reduce some milestones “that are unnecessary for the final result,” meaning “the ambition is not diminished, but the bureaucracy associated with proving milestones is reduced,” he pointed out.
“After presenting the PRR review, we will submit the eighth payment request, which in itself has defined milestones and targets, and, in this case, we are highly likely to anticipate in the eighth payment request ten milestones and targets that were initially planned for the ninth and tenth payment requests,” the minister added.
