Despite the existing risk and ongoing situations in areas that recently experienced significant wildfires, as of 06:30 today, there were no major active fires in the country, as reported by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection.
Several municipalities in the northern and central interior regions, as well as the Algarve, are also facing a very high risk of rural fires, according to the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
This risk, determined by the IPMA, consists of five levels ranging from low to maximum. The calculations are based on factors such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and the amount of precipitation over the past 24 hours.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the mainland include mostly clear skies, with periods of thick cloud cover in the northern and central coastal regions, particularly until mid-morning, and the possibility of mist or morning fog forming in these areas.
Also expected is generally light wind, becoming light to moderate from the west from late morning onwards, occasionally blowing strong along the western coastal strip south of Cabo da Roca and in the mountain ranges of the central and southern coast in the afternoon.
Minimum temperatures will range from 15 degrees Celsius (in Viana do Castelo, Braga, and Évora) to 18 (in Aveiro, Portalegre, Lisbon, and Faro), and maximum temperatures from 24 (in Aveiro) to 35 (in Évora and Bragança).
