A 32-year-old Portuguese man was arrested after biting off a man’s ear during a fight in a nightclub in the city of Ghent, Belgium, on Tuesday, May 6. The incident, described as more violent than the infamous attack by Mike Tyson on Evander Holyfield, has shocked the community, reports indicate.
The suspect reportedly told authorities that he could not recall the incident or the motivation behind the attack. The victim was hospitalized and is not in life-threatening condition but suffered “permanent injuries, with no possibility of surgical restoration,” meaning he will be left without an ear.
