Portuguese cinemas lose 32% of viewers in November compared to 2024

This was the second worst month of the year, after October, in terms of cinema attendance, according to a statement from ICA. Up until the end of November, a total of 9,646,756 spectators were recorded, a decrease of 8.7% compared to the 10,568,122 registered during the same period last year.

Regarding revenue, Portuguese cinemas earned 4.36 million euros in November, 1.8 million euros less than in the same month of 2024, marking a decline of 29.6%.

For the entire year, until the end of November 2025, cinemas generated 61.9 million euros, reflecting a 5.1% drop in gross revenue compared to the same period previously.

The list of most-watched films for the month is topped by “Wicked: Pelo Bem,” directed by Jon M. Chu, with 78,000 spectators. This is followed by the animated film “Zootrópolis 2,” by Byron Howard and Jared Bus, with 65,000 viewers.

The most-watched film up to November 30 was “Lilo e Stitch,” with over 666,000 viewers, followed by “Um Filme Minecraft,” with 503,000 spectators. The Brazilian film “Ainda Estou Aqui,” by Walter Sales, holds third place with 385,000 admissions.

The most-watched Portuguese film of the year is “O Pátio da Saudade,” by Leonel Vieira, with 69,000 spectators.
