
In cinema revenues, according to data released by ICA for the semester, Portuguese cinemas achieved 6.5 million euros in June, marking the best June in this category since records began, at least since 2004. This increase can be attributed to rising ticket prices.
June of this year also saw a 41.8% increase in revenues compared to the same month last year.
Cumulatively, the first semester of 2025 recorded 35.1 million euros in revenue and 5.5 million viewers, representing increases of 20.6% and 16.6%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
These figures indicate that the first semester of 2025 is also the best since 2019, when 6.7 million viewers and 35.6 million euros in revenue were recorded.
The most-watched film of the year, in the first semester, in Portugal was ‘Lilo & Stitch’, with 560,000 viewers and 3.5 million euros in revenue in just over a month since its premiere.
In the domain of Portuguese films, the most-watched work this year continues to be ‘On Falling’ by Laura Carreira, with 13,000 viewers and 75,000 euros in cumulative revenue since its premiere in March.
