
All districts are under a yellow warning until 9:00 PM today due to maritime agitation.
The IPMA has issued an orange warning for the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Braga from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, which will then change to yellow until 6:00 AM on Sunday.
Similarly, due to wave conditions, the districts of Faro, Setúbal, and Beja are under a yellow warning until 6:00 PM today and again from 12:00 PM on Saturday to 3:00 AM on Sunday.
The IPMA issues an orange warning when there is a “moderate to high risk weather situation” and a yellow warning when there is a “risk situation for certain weather-dependent activities.”
Due to the sea conditions, the maritime bars of Caminha, Douro, Esposende, Vila Praia de Âncora, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde, and Portinho da Ericeira are closed to all navigation, and those of Aveiro, Viana do Castelo, and Figueira da Foz are restricted, according to information on the National Maritime Authority’s website.
The IPMA forecasts waves from the northwest on the western coast at 4 to 4.5 meters, decreasing to 3.5 to 4 meters south of Cabo Raso from late afternoon today. On the southern coast, southwest waves of 1 meter are expected.
