Portuguese company Tekever to supply drones to Ukrainian troops

Portuguese company Tekever will supply ‘drones’ to Ukraine to support land and sea operations through a UK-led fund, it was announced today.

The information about the supply of drones to Ukraine was advanced by the magazine “Defense News” and confirmed to Lusa by the Portuguese company.

In a response sent to Lusa, Tekever said that “for security reasons” it is very limited in the information it can transmit, but confirmed that ‘drones’ from the Portuguese company are present in the video shared this week on social networks by the UK Ministry of Defense about the military equipment being supplied to Ukrainian troops through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU).

According to the UK Ministry of Defense, the military equipment will start arriving in Ukraine in July and the fund is financed by Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK.

The Portuguese ‘drone’ manufacturer indicates that the UK Ministry of Defense video included footage of a ‘Tekever AR3’, which is used for long duration operations of up to 16 hours and has a system where the operator can easily choose which configuration to use for each specific mission.

In a written statement sent to Lusa, Ricardo Mendes, Tekever’s CEO and co-founder, says the group is “very proud to be supporting Ukraine at this critical time” and “grateful to the UK Ministry of Defense and the IFU for allowing us to contribute to one of the greatest human causes – the freedom and defense of a people.

“Our teams are working 24/7 to continuously adapt our products to the ever-changing field conditions in Ukraine, overcoming technological difficulties and challenges at a daily pace,” he further states.
