A Portuguese couple endured a violent robbery on Friday, September 26, in Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain.
At 11 a.m., three thieves disguised as police officers invaded a house on Avenida Pablo Iglesias. They tied up the residents, a Portuguese couple aged 65 and 60, and stole 10,000 euros in cash and various pieces of jewelry.
The victims informed the National Police that the assailants arrived at their door with fake badges. Once inside, they first immobilized the woman, binding her hands and feet with cable ties.
Shortly after, the husband arrived home and realized the situation but was unable to prevent it. He was also immobilized.
The couple was held captive while the attackers searched the entire house until they found jewelry and money.
The masked men later fled from the property. It was a neighbor who saw them leaving and alerted the authorities. Besides the three fake police officers who carried out the robbery, the witness reportedly saw a fourth suspect entering the getaway car.
The escape was executed in a gray Peugeot 308. Authorities are now trying to trace the stolen bills—mostly in 500-euro notes—as the high denomination of these may aid in locating the criminals if they enter circulation.
No suspects have been arrested so far.
