
The incident occurred early Tuesday when five individuals were returning home after work in Magaluf, located in the municipality of Calvià, according to details shared by the Spanish police in a statement.
On a street with restricted traffic, a stationary vehicle appeared to attempt to run over the group, who reprimanded the driver for his actions.
The young driver responded by accelerating multiple times in an attempt to intimidate the group, then reversed abruptly, striking the pedestrians and leaving one woman seriously injured.
The local police reported that the driver fled the scene, while medical services provided assistance to the victim, who was transported to Son Espases University Hospital in Palma, where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The Civil Guard launched a search operation and reviewed security cameras in the area to locate the alleged perpetrator of the accident.
Hours after the incident, the driver voluntarily appeared at the police station and confessed to the actions. Officers also noticed the vehicle bore marks from the strong impact.
