
An 85-year-old Portuguese man died after being struck by a car on one of the busiest roads in Bordeaux, France, last Saturday, August 30.
The accident occurred at 10 a.m. on Cours Victor Hugo, at the heart of Bordeaux. In addition to the Portuguese pedestrian, who died at the scene, the car also hit another vehicle, injuring its 43-year-old driver, who was subsequently taken to the hospital.
The driver responsible for the accident was also hospitalized. Witnesses reported to a French publication that the 69-year-old driver was in shock and even fainted at the scene.
Traffic was halted on Cours Victor Hugo between the Musée d’Aquitaine and Rue Sainte-Catherine for several hours. Vehicle circulation resumed in the mid-afternoon.
