The Portuguese government has condemned the devastating Russian attack on Sumy, which resulted in numerous casualties. In a statement on the official social media account of the Office of the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, the Portuguese authorities expressed their condolences to the families and the Ukrainian people and urged the Russian Federation to cease all hostilities and accept the ceasefire already agreed upon by Ukraine.
This morning, a Russian missile strike in the heart of Sumy, located in northeastern Ukraine, claimed the lives of at least 31 people, including two children, and injured 84 others, according to a report by Ukrainian emergency services.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for a “strong response from the world” in reaction to the Sumy attack, posting his appeal on Telegram.
“We need a strong response from the world. America, Europe, all who wish for this war and these deaths to end. Russia seeks precisely this kind of terror and is prolonging this war,” emphasized the Ukrainian head of state.

“The enemy missiles hit an ordinary street in the city, a normal life: homes, schools, cars on the street… And this on a day when people attend church, Palm Sunday,” Zelensky described, as reported by the Efe news agency.
Zelensky asserted that without pressure on Russia, peace remains unattainable.
“Negotiations never halted the ballistic missiles and bombs. We must treat Russia as a terrorist deserves,” he stated.
