Portuguese tourists in Brazil with a growth of 24.7% until September

According to data provided by the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), a total of 178,436 Portuguese tourists chose Brazil as their destination in the first nine months of the year.

From January to September 2024, this number was 143,141.

Portuguese tourists are the second most frequent European visitors to Brazil, following the French (212,783).

Brazil recorded 7,099,237 international tourists in the first nine months of 2025, marking a record for the country and a 45% increase over the period from January to September 2024.

“We have already surpassed the annual goal three months in advance, which demonstrates the strength of our sector and the world’s confidence in Brazil,” stated the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, in a release.

Within nine months, the South American giant exceeded the 6,773,619 foreign visitors recorded in all of 2024, which was already an annual record, now surpassed.

“Tourism is helping to drive the economy and transform lives,” emphasized Marcelo Freixo, the president of Embratur, in a statement.
