As of 4:00 PM, E-Redes reported that “the number of customers affected by power outages due to the wildfires has been decreasing, and the situation is now almost normalized”.
The distributor noted that there were still “a few hundred customers without electricity” located in the most affected areas by the fires, in the districts of Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Vila Real, and Bragança.
The impacted customers “are in villages where access is restricted due to the fires or the subsequent cleanup operations,” the company explained.
In a statement to the Lusa agency, E-Redes also mentioned that its technicians and partners will remain on-site to assess the damage in the burned areas and “restore the network when it can be done safely.”
On Friday, around 8,000 customers were without electricity at 10:00 PM in various municipalities in the North and Central regions affected by the rural fires.
Throughout the day, according to E-Redes, the number of customers affected by outages reached 20,000, and the company deployed about 150 workers to restore the service supply.
