PR refers judgment on Health management to two or three weeks from now.

At the exit of the Brotéria bookstore in Lisbon, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was asked about comments made on Monday by the Minister of Health, acknowledging that the situation in the gynecology and obstetrics emergencies in the Setúbal Peninsula did not unfold as expected.

“In fact, the deadline I mentioned for forming my judgment has not yet expired. I said it would be in the transition after it is made, toward fall. We have yet to reach autumn. We are at the end of summer, almost at the end of summer,” the head of state responded.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa added, “Therefore, I admit that my judgment on what was promised and its fulfillment should wait another two to three weeks.”

“In two or three weeks, I will naturally form that judgment,” he emphasized.

On Monday, the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, stated regarding the gynecology and obstetrics emergencies in the Setúbal Peninsula: “I learned that nothing guarantees us that what they assure us will happen actually happens. This is exactly the situation we are experiencing today in the Setúbal Peninsula.”

“I did it because I believed in the plan that was presented to me, and because I learned to trust the teams I work with,” the minister explained, adding: “It is very penalizing for me to have politically assumed a solution that was guaranteed to me and see it fall apart without even understanding why.”
