
The report from the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP) states there were 16,286 service providers as of December 31, 2024, reflecting a 4.3% decrease compared to the previous year (-725).
This trend was primarily attributed to a reduction in central administration (-964), while in local administration, the number of service contracts as of December 31, 2024, increased compared to December 31, 2023 (+244), DGAEP explains.
Regarding the type of these service contracts, 8,357 were task-based and 7,929 were retainer-based.
DGAEP further notes that “the vast majority of service providers (92.5%) were engaged in entities classified under ‘Public Administration, compulsory defense and social security’ activities.”
The bulletin also revealed that, on December 31, 2024, public administration employment stood at 753,552 jobs, marking a 3.6% increase compared to December 31, 2011, and a 1% increase year-on-year.
