A pregnant firefighter was assaulted by the mother of another firefighter at the Volunteer Firefighters barracks in Barcelos on Monday at 2:45 PM. The victim, who faced a risky pregnancy, was on duty at the central station when the attacker entered the premises and slapped her daughter’s colleague.
The woman required medical attention at a hospital and has lodged a complaint with the Public Security Police (PSP).
The assault was witnessed by several firefighters present at the scene, who intervened to prevent further harm to the pregnant firefighter.
The commander of the Volunteer Firefighters of Barcelos stated that personal disputes seem to be the cause of the aggression. An investigation into the incident is underway to determine what transpired.
