Pregnant woman seven months along assaulted and stabbed by uncle in Queluz.

A woman, seven months pregnant, was assaulted and stabbed by her uncle following a disagreement in an apartment building in Queluz, Sintra, on Tuesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old woman sustained facial bruises and wrist injuries and was transported to Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca, also known as Amadora-Sintra, where she remains hospitalized.

The altercation began around 1:30 PM when the woman, a Cape Verdean national, was punched and kicked in the face and abdominal area. The victim, who was holding a small child at the time of the initial assault, was reportedly also stabbed.

A family member alerted authorities after the victim managed to call for help.

Upon arrival, officers from the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) found the victim with “bruises and a deep cut on her wrist.”

The suspect, a 56-year-old Cape Verdean man, was still at the scene with the knife concealed at his waist. He was detained and brought before judicial authorities.

The case has been handed over to the Polícia Judiciária (PJ).
