President swears in the 41 Secretaries of State of the XXIV Constitutional Government

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, today swore in the 41 Secretaries of State of the XXIV Constitutional Government, headed by Luís Montenegro, in a ceremony at the Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon.

With the swearing-in of the secretaries of state, the minority executive formed by the PSD and CDS-PP following the early parliamentary elections on March 10 has been completed and is made up of a total of 59 members, around 40% of whom are women.

The ceremony, held in the Ambassadors’ Room of the Ajuda National Palace and lasting around half an hour, was attended by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and all the ministers of the new government, sworn in on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and the 17 ministers of the XXIV Government were sworn in on Tuesday, 23 days after the legislative elections.

The 41 Secretaries of State, 17 women and 24 men, were called up one by one, in hierarchical order, to take the oath and sign the instrument of investiture.
