The GNR reported that following a hearing at the Judicial Court of Santa Maria da Feira, the most severe coercive measure was applied to four of the defendants.
According to the GNR, two other defendants are required to report weekly to the police station in their area of residence. They are also prohibited from contacting each other and from visiting locations or meeting individuals linked to drug trafficking and consumption.
The remaining three defendants were granted Identity and Residence Terms.
The GNR announced on Thursday that they dismantled a drug trafficking network operating in the northern region of the Aveiro district and in Vila Nova de Gaia. This was part of an investigation related to drug trafficking that had been ongoing for approximately a year.
The operation led to the arrest of nine men, aged between 27 and 46, across various municipalities in the Porto and Aveiro districts, including Oliveira de Azeméis, Santa Maria da Feira, Espinho, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Porto.
During the operation, 17 search warrants were executed (14 residential and three vehicle searches), resulting in the seizure of over 8,000 doses of drugs (hashish, cannabis, cocaine, crack, and MDMA), as well as cutting, packaging, and storage materials, and 4,569 euros in cash.
