The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), through the Territorial Command of Portalegre, arrested a 62-year-old man in the municipality of Elvas on April 3, on suspicion of domestic violence against his mother.
“As part of an investigation into domestic violence, the Guarda officers conducted police inquiries that revealed the suspect inflicted psychological and physical violence on the victim, his 85-year-old mother,” the GNR disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.
During the operation, a detention warrant was executed.
The detained individual was brought before the Judicial Court of Elvas, where the preventive detention measure was imposed.
