Preventive detention for a suspect of trafficking in Gondomar. He was serving a prison sentence.

A 29-year-old man was arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) on May 22, on suspicion of drug trafficking in the municipality of Gondomar.

The GNR announced in a statement that an investigation had been ongoing for around 18 months. As part of this investigation, “a house search was conducted in the parish of São Cosme, which led to the suspect being caught in the act.”

A total of 365 doses of cocaine, 60 doses of hashish, 65 euros in cash, a saber, a dagger, a mace, a taser, a mobile phone, four bottles of anesthetic medication, and various materials related to drug cutting, packaging, and trafficking were seized.

“During the operation, it was also discovered that the detainee is serving a one-year house arrest sentence, monitored via electronic bracelet, for driving without a legal license,” the statement read.

The detainee has since appeared in Porto Judicial Court and has been remanded in custody.

Additionally, the GNR reports that “an infraction notice was also issued for drug consumption to a 40-year-old man who was found consuming narcotics purchased from the detainee. He has been referred to the Aveiro Commission for the Dissuasion of Drug Addiction.”
