The suspect, a foreign citizen reported missing in his home country, has been placed in preventive detention following an initial judicial hearing, as confirmed by the PJ.
The police revealed in a statement that the teenager was approached in a public space during a night out, where she consumed alcoholic beverages, and it was during this incident that the suspect allegedly committed sexual abuse.
“The facts came to the attention of the PJ, which immediately carried out urgent investigative actions, identifying, locating, and arresting the suspect who was preparing to leave the country,” the PJ noted.
The suspect was detained on charges of sexual abuse of a minor incapable of resistance.
The suspect, a 21-year-old, approached the 16-year-old teenager “in a public space.” He was apprehended by the Polícia Judiciária as he “prepared to leave the country.”
