A 52-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) last Wednesday, November 19, in Águeda, for drug trafficking.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Sunday, the GNR stated that, as part of a year-long investigation into drug-related crimes, actions were undertaken that led to the execution of two arrest warrants, two home searches, and two vehicle searches.
During the operation, it was discovered that the suspects, a mother and her son, were engaged in trafficking cocaine and heroin across the municipalities of Águeda, Albergaria-a-Velha, Anadia, Oliveira do Bairro, Mealhada, and Oliveira de Frades.
In addition to the arrests, the GNR seized 1,700 euros in cash and a digital precision scale.
The detainees have already appeared before the Judicial Court of Aveiro and were remanded in custody.
