The investigation began on September 8 when the suspect’s eldest daughter, aged 14, took a pregnancy test that returned positive, according to the police.
“At that time, she disclosed the facts to a close relative, identifying her father as the perpetrator, which led to the filing of the police complaint,” stated a police report.
Evidence corroborating the complaint was gathered by the police, revealing another victim, the suspect’s other daughter, aged 9.
The abuse reportedly began in Angola, but the suspect relocated to Ponte de Lima, in the Viana do Castelo district, leaving his daughters behind in the country.
At the end of 2024, the girls also moved to Portugal under their father’s care, where they allegedly continued to be sexually abused.
The suspect fled home after learning about the complaint and was apprehended in a social neighborhood in Porto.
He is charged with multiple crimes of child sexual abuse and abuse of vulnerable minors.
