
The detained individual was presented this morning to the competent judicial authority, which imposed the measure of preventive detention, according to a PSP statement.
The PSP District Command of Faro arrested a 38-year-old man on Sunday in the Algarve capital on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The police operation was launched following a report of an altercation between two individuals, during which one allegedly fired a firearm at the other.
Police confirmed the accuracy of the reported facts and located the suspect near the scene of the incident.
Investigative efforts allowed for the identification and seizure of the weapon used. It was identified as an alarm gun modified to operate with .32 caliber ammunition, thereby qualifying as a prohibited weapon.
The victim was later identified at Faro Hospital, where they received medical assistance and provided a statement confirming the initially reported information.
