A 32-year-old man has been arrested outside of a crime in progress by the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Rabo de Peixe police station, located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande on the island of São Miguel, in accordance with an arrest warrant.
The suspect had recently intensified “his illegal conduct within the family, particularly against his parents,” stated the Public Security Police (PSP).
A statement from the PSP’s Regional Command in the Azores detailed that the man was detained for allegedly committing two aggravated domestic violence crimes (against his parents), four aggravated threats (against police officers), four aggravated insults (also against police officers), and one crime of possessing a prohibited weapon.
After being presented to the competent judicial authority, “he was given the harshest preventive measure, preventive detention,” the PSP added.
