A man was apprehended by the Public Security Police (PSP) after an alert was received via 112 in the city of Beja last Monday, related to a robbery employing the ‘stretch’ method.
“The incident involved the forcible removal of a gold chain from the victim’s neck, with the suspect immediately fleeing the scene. Based on the collected description, a Criminal Investigation Squadron brigade conducted field operations, ultimately intercepting the suspect shortly thereafter,” stated a communiqué sent to newsrooms.
According to the PSP, during the police approach, a brief search was conducted, allowing for the recovery of the stolen item, which was concealed in the suspect’s clothing, leading to an immediate arrest.
The authorities further noted that, given the manner of the offense, the suspect was linked to “other previously investigated criminal activities.”
The detainee was brought before a court and was given the most severe coercive measure, preventive detention.
