In a statement, Porto’s Metropolitan Command of the PSP reported the crime occurred on Thursday at 2:55 a.m. at a jewelry store located on Rua António Cardoso in Porto.
The PSP was alerted to the ongoing crime by an alarm center, which indicated that “a suspect had broken into the jewelry store and was inside stealing jewelry.”
PSP officers immediately arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect outside the establishment in possession of tools used to break the door and “in possession of various gold pieces valued at approximately 21,000 euros.”
The detainee, 47, has already appeared in court and has been remanded in custody.
