Three of the five individuals arrested for theft in cemeteries, vehicles, and homes in the municipalities of Alenquer and Torres Vedras have been placed in preventive custody, the National Republican Guard (GNR) announced on Monday.
The five detainees—three men and two women—appeared before the Judicial Court of Leiria, which decided to impose preventive detention on three of the suspects. The remaining two were required to report twice a week to the police station in their area of residence.
The arrests were carried out on June 11 as part of an investigation that lasted approximately two months.
Over a hundred thefts took place in cemeteries, vehicles, and residences in the regions of Leiria, Lisbon, Coimbra, Santarém, Évora, and Setúbal.
The suspects had prior criminal records for similar offenses.

The GNR arrested five people, two women and three men, on Wednesday on suspicion of committing thefts in cemeteries, vehicles, and residences in Alenquer and Torres Vedras. Four other individuals, along with a company, were also named as suspects.
