Preventive detention for three Sporting supporters who attacked members of the Super Dragons

The three Sporting fans suspected of attacking FC Porto supporters in Lisbon have been placed in preventive detention. The accused are aged between 22 and 26 years.

The coercive measures were announced on Saturday afternoon, with one of the defense attorneys speaking to the media outside the Campus of Justice.

“It was expected, mainly due to the social alarm and also the risk to the preservation of evidence and the disruption of the investigation. I can understand this measure, especially because there are other elements that need to be identified,” the attorney stated, pointing out that if the accused remained at large, there was the risk of “contacting other members of the supporters’ group” to which they belonged, the Super Dragões.

An appeal is still being “considered” by the defense, who would be “happier” with the release of the accused. However, they emphasized that given the possibility of contacting supporters’ group members, it seems to be a “fair” measure “at this stage of the proceedings.”

“There were indications that even fell, but I will not add anything more,” they noted.

In this attack involving an incendiary device, four FC Porto fans were injured, two of them more seriously.

The incident occurred following the national roller hockey championship match between Sporting and FC Porto, held at the João Rocha Pavilion.

The two clubs immediately condemned the incident, with FC Porto demanding severe and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
