Two young men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) last Wednesday, November 5, for three counts of aggravated robbery and one count of kidnapping, all in completed form.
According to a PSP statement, the incidents occurred in public areas, specifically in the Carcavelos and Parede parishes, areas known for being more isolated with little pedestrian traffic. The victims were minors.
The suspects approached the victims, requesting to borrow their mobile phones to make a call. Subsequently, they adopted an aggressive stance, demanding the unlock codes for the devices.
If the victims resisted, the two suspects, using physical force, assaults, or the threat of a bladed weapon, demanded valuables the minors had, such as mobile phones, AirPods, or cash.
In one of these incidents, the assailants managed to access the victim’s Revolut bank account application. They demanded the victim provide the access code and write down the phone’s unlock code on a piece of paper.
The suspects only released the victim after the factory reset of the phone was completed, detaining the individual for approximately 1.5 hours.
Two home searches were conducted in the municipalities of Lisbon and Cascais, resulting in the seizure of “items used by the suspects during the commission of the crimes.”
Last Thursday, the detainees were brought before a judicial interrogation. The harshest preventive measure, pre-trial detention, was imposed on them.
