The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested a 23-year-old man on April 16 for vehicle theft and driving without a valid license in the municipality of Matosinhos.
In a statement, the security force explained that following a report of a vehicle theft in the municipality of Maia, officers conducted police inquiries that led to the location and interception of the stolen car in the city of Matosinhos, “moments after the crime was committed.”
“During the operation, it was determined that the suspect was not only in unlawful possession of the vehicle but also did not have a valid document authorizing him to drive, thereby committing the crime of driving without a valid license, which led to his arrest,” the statement, released on Monday, further reveals.
The stolen vehicle was recovered along with various industrial materials found inside.
The items were returned to their rightful owner.
The detainee was brought before the Matosinhos Judicial Court, where he was remanded in custody.
