The District Command of Portalegre’s PSP reported on their Facebook page that a man was arrested on Wednesday by officers from the Criminal Investigation Squad of the Elvas Police Division. He was detained on “substantiated suspicions” of having repeatedly subjected the victim to physical and psychological abuse.
The PSP described the suspect as “quite aggressive and dangerous,” exerting psychological pressure and maintaining a possessive stance towards the victim.
The police added that substantial evidence was gathered during their operations, leading to the suspect’s arrest outside the act of committing the offense.
The man appeared before the Judicial Court of Elvas on Friday for an initial judicial hearing, during which the most severe preventive measure, pre-trial detention, was imposed, according to the PSP.
