Prices to be charged by CTT will increase by an average of 6.20% in 2026.

The regulations outlined in order no. 14210/2025, dated the 21st of the previous month and signed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, state that new prices for postal services within the universal service will come into effect from February 2 of the following year.

The CTT proposed a price update for 2026, applicable to the provision of the universal postal service, submitted to the National Communications Authority (Anacom) on October 21. On November 19, the regulator forwarded a report analyzing this proposal to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, which approved it as it complied with the principles of Postal Law and the criteria set in the pricing agreement for the 2026-2028 triennium.

The Anacom report states the new CTT price table includes a four-cent increase for domestic standard mail services weighing up to 20 grams, paid through stamps and postal franking, aligning with the established agreement.

The regulator also concluded that prices for basic services do not show average annual variations exceeding 15%, ensuring compliance with the 30% cumulative variation limit as it marks the first year of the 2026-2028 agreement.

The Anacom’s analysis further found that the CTT notified prices result in an average annual variation of 6.20%, consistent with the annual maximum variation for 2026 and the principles of rate uniformity as outlined in the agreement, as well as the standards for user accessibility and cost alignment set in the Postal Law.
