The Prime Minister, António Costa, today greeted “all Madeirans in the affirmation of their identity”, on the Day of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and Madeiran Communities.
“Celebrating 47 years of autonomy is to strengthen the responses to the needs of the Madeirans. Thus we guarantee the centrality of Madeira in Europe and in the world,” argued Costa, in a post on the social network Twitter.
As part of this day, a solemn session will be held at the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with the presence of the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, and the representative of the Republic, Ireneu Cabral Barreto.
Miguel Albuquerque will also participate in the flower laying ceremony at the Monument to Autonomy, preside over the ceremony to award honorary insignia to personalities and institutions, and, in the evening, attend the commemorative concert by the Classical Orchestra of Madeira and the singer Luís Represas.
