Privatization of TAP. Marques Mendes in favor, but calls for “transparency”

“I have no objection; on the contrary, I think it is a correct decision and a very consensual one,” responded Luís Marques Mendes to journalists when asked if he agrees with the privatization of TAP.

The presidential candidate for next year’s elections emphasized, however, the need for “this process to proceed with a lot of transparency, with total transparency so that there is no suspicion at the end.”

Luís Marques Mendes was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the Mafra Bread Festival, accompanied by PSD municipal candidates for this town council.

When questioned about issues in the health sector and the potential resignation of Health Minister Ana Paula Martins, he argued that “we need solutions, not resignations, and quickly.”

“We all want there to be more births in Portugal, because the population is aging, and there are continuous calls and incentives for more births. Well, having a large number of obstetric emergencies closed is not a good incentive for increasing birth rates,” he exemplified.
