Profits of the gaming operator in Macau Galaxy rise 14% between July and September

Galaxy Entertainment Group reported an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of 3.3 billion Hong Kong dollars (approximately 368 million euros) between July and September this year.

In a statement sent to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Galaxy also announced net revenue of 12.2 billion Hong Kong dollars (1.36 billion euros), marking a 14% increase compared to the third quarter of 2024.

Regarding gaming, from July to September, the group recorded gross revenue of 12.2 billion Hong Kong dollars (1.36 billion euros), reflecting a 21% rise from the previous year.

The company’s chairman, Lui Che Woo, mentioned in the statement that the “balance sheet remains healthy and liquid,” while noting events that impacted gross gaming revenue and EBITDA during the quarter, specifically the “typhoon Ragasa, which led the Government to officially close all casinos for 33 hours.”

In the first ten months of the year, Macau’s gaming sector achieved total revenue of 205.4 billion patacas (22.9 billion euros), up 8% from the same period last year.

Macau, the world’s gaming capital, is the only place in China where casino gaming is legal.

Six concessionaires operate in the territory: MGM, Galaxy, Venetian, Melco, Wynn, and SJM, which renewed their concession contract in December 2023 for the next ten years, effective from January 1, 2024.
